Melanie Simms is a Senior at Shippensburg University, majoring in English Literature and International Studies. Publications of her poetry and opinion editorials have been included in various journals, e-zines and newspapers nationally and internationally including: Zuzu's Petals, Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Splizz (Wales), 3 Cup Morning (Canada), The Santa Cruz Sentinel, among many others.

Ms. Simms comes from a proud family heritage of writers that include a descendancy claim to the poet William Dunbar, an Uncle, Pulitzer-prize winning war journalist, Patrick Sloyan, and a cousin, Fred Purdy, former US Diplomat to Santiago, Chile.
